Motorcycle Safety: Safety Gear and Total Loss Protection

Torque Group • May 6, 2021

Riding a motorcycle is fun, but it can be dangerous without the proper preparation. To ensure nothing unfavorable happens to you, you should therefore acquire safety gear and Total Loss Protection.

Below we discuss how the right gear and Total Loss Protection can keep you safe as a motorcyclist.

1. Helmet

The helmet is essential to any rider as it protects the head from serious injuries. Accidents have killed many people who ride without helmets.

Buy a robust, high-quality helmet that protects your head and face. It should come with durable straps that will prevent the helmet from flying, and an inner lining made of sturdy foam that will reduce the brunt of the impact in the event of a collision.

2. Jacket

A good motorcycle jacket comes with body armor, allowing it to protect your arms, torso, and internal organs should you get into an accident. It also provides water, abrasion, and weather resistance. Get a jacket sporting brightly colored material, as this will make you easier to spot on the road.

Take note that an ordinary leather jacket isn’t the same as a motorcycle leather jacket; never substitute the former for the latter.

3. Gloves

In any accident, we often use our hands to break our fall. For this reason, we need excellent protection for our hands.

Good motorcycle gloves thoroughly cover all the parts of your hands as well as your wrists and come with straps that secure them in place.

4. Riding pants

Riding pants protect your legs. A good pair comes with armor for the hips, knees, and shins, and is resistant to abrasion and extreme weather.

5. Boots

You can’t be a motorcyclist without excellent boots. Boots protect your feet and ankles should the motorcycle fall on you or in the case of an accident. Their soles should be able to provide a firm grip on the footpegs.

Make sure all the safety gear you acquire is a perfect fit for you. This means they should provide ample protection while giving you a sufficient range of motion.

For added protection, avail of Torque Group’s Total Loss Protection program. This provides customers with up to $5,000 towards the purchase of a replacement vehicle in the event of a total loss.
